Barbara Sue Cole ( Carter ) entered into eternal rest on March 20th, 2024, in the early morning hours surrounded by her loving family in her home just as she had wanted. Ending her suffering from COPD . Barbara was 69 years old , she was born June 21st , 1954 in Tucson , Arizona, to Katherine Breese and Ray Solomon Carter Jr ... She spoke of her grand father's Pharmacy/soda fountain in Artesia, New Mexico, as well as her fathers pharmacy in Albuquerque New Mexico. She enjoyed growing-up in Albuquerque's North Valley, riding her horse on the river banks, and was also active in 4 - H. She often joked "It was fun, fun, fun until her daddy took the T - bird Away". After high school she married Bruce Kotschwar and had two children. After they divorced she remained in Albuquerque for a short while at which time she had a third child before relocating East of Albuquerque. She loved the prairies and the pastures there . She worked at the Bell Ranch and the Anaya Ranch and lived at the Oxnard just north of Stanley, New Mexico, until the 31st of December, 1987, when she was introduced to Mr. Dewayne Cole, and in February of the same year they were married and moved to Stanley, where they enjoyed 37 wonderful years together. Most notably she worked at the Landon Store, in Stanley, and the Civic center in Moriarty, New Mexico, she was also proud to have cleaned for the Stanley Union Church for many years. She also loved volunteering for the Balloon Fiesta. She was preceded in death by her parents , her eldest daughter Maggie, and her beloved mule , Hillary- Ass. She is survived by her husband Dewayne, Son Jeffrey (Tanya), and daughter Audrey (Jon), grand children Dustin and Elizabeth, great grand child Emmaline, Sister Becky (Stan), brothers Alan (Inez), Ray (Elaine), nieces Stacy (Tom), Valerie (Joe), Sidney, and Gentry (Bryant), nephews Bradley (Elisa), and Scott (Maddie), and great neices Taylor and Breeze. As Barbara did not want a formal service there will be a celebration of her life , date to be determined please inquire to the family for more information if you would like to attend.
