Alex Sanchez, age 78, was called to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 5, 2020. He passed at home surrounded by his loving family. Alex was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was in the first graduating class at Rio Grande High School in 1960. He was the prominent owner and founder of Alex Paint and Body Shop located in the heart of the South Valley from 1972 to 2014. He worked alongside Isabel, his beloved wife of over 55 years. Alex had countless friends and family and will be remembered by his many practical jokes, his huge cup of coffee in his hand and always offering his gum to everyone. He enjoyed the many hours he spent outside tackling his million ongoing projects and cherished spending quality time with his family. He often reminisced about all of the classic cars he restored throughout the years. Alex was survived by his wife Isabel; daughters Gina (Joe) Apodaca, Marna (Moi) Puentes, and Francine (Roberto) Puentes; grandchildren Phillip (Angela), Estevan, Nathien (Doborah), Destinee (Víctor), Britnee and Ashlee; seven great grandchildren Madelyne, Damacio, Diego, Felipe, Addisyn, Jazzelle and Alex; siblings Alice, Stella, Reina, Robert, Pauline, and Helen. Alex was was preceded in death by his parents Meliton and Eulalia; brothers Leo, City, and Ben. At this time services are pending at Legacy Church Eastside and will be announced in the Albuquerque Journal Obituaries on Sunday, December 20, 2020.
