Agatha Annette “Nettie” Dominguez, a longtime resident of Grants, NM, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019, in Rio Rancho, NM. She was born on June 22, 1966 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Odie and Sophie Dominguez. At nine months old, Nettie began experiencing grand mal epileptic seizures that threatened to end her life because of their frequency and severity. The medicine that Nettie had to take to control the seizures was so strong that it caused her to have permanent brain damage. Although she never communicated verbally, she could express her love with a look, with a smile, with a hug. Nettie taught her family and friends that love is much deeper than words. Her loved ones will always treasure their “Nettie hugs!” She also loved to hold hands to express her affection. Through her vulnerabilities, Nettie gave everyone who knew her the gifts of empathy and unconditional love. She inspired her family to dedicate their lives to help those with mental and physical challenges. During times of adversity, challenges, and pain, Nettie shone through with a special light. She was a blessing and a beautiful gift to everyone who knew her or crossed her path. Nettie is now together with her loving parents who devoted their lives to take care of their beloved daughter. Nettie is survived by her siblings: Odie Jr. of San Antonio, TX; Tammie (Imperati) and husband, Sam, of Vancouver, WA; Russell and wife, Beth, of Midland, TX; Jacob and wife, Christina, of Rio Rancho, NM. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and James and Edna Rendon, her loving care-givers for almost 10 years. Nettie was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Odie and Sophie Dominguez. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, 10:00 AM, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Grants, NM. A memorial Mass will follow at 10:30 AM, with a burial immediately afterwards at Grants Cemetery.
