Linda Kay McLain
February 9, 1952 – March 31, 2007
Born February 9, 1952 in Macomb, Illinois, Linda spent her childhood and adolescent years growing up small farming towns in Illinois and Nebraska. On June 13, 1971, she married Milton McLain. The family moved to Estancia, NM in 1976 where she and Milton founded McLain Greenhouses. The business specializes in locally grown, high desert acclimated, quality flowering annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables.
Linda’s passion within the business was creating vibrant, colorful and distinctive container gardens. Her designs have been featured in several publications, including Sunset Magazine, and often serve as templates for garden centers and landscapers throughout New Mexico. Linda took great pleasure in presenting seminars throughout New Mexico, sharing her knowledge and passion with gardeners of all skill levels.
In addition to her strong business drive, she will be remembered as a devoted, supportive and loving wife, mother, daughter and friend. Her incredible personal strength was evident to all who knew her. Linda’s spirit and passion will be missed by all.
Linda was preceded in death by a daughter, Allison. She is survived by her husband, Milton, daughter Stacie and mother Marilyn.
