George Efrem Mares

George Efrem Mares, 62, our beloved son and brother, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at his home in McIntosh, NM. George was born on June 8, 1947 to Edward and Petrita (Apodaca) Mares in Albuquerque, NM. George lived in McIntosh, NM for the past twenty one years. George was honorably discharged from the Army with numerous decorations, medals and badges. He was a member of the VFW. George is preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Louie and Gilbert Mares; and sister Ruth Mares. He is survived by his mother, Petrita Mares of Antilope Springs, NM; brothers, Abran Mares and his wife Terry, Eddie Mares and his wife Rachel, Mike Mares and Paul Mares and his wife Christy; sisters, Elizabeth Sanchez, Mary Mares, Virginia Hernandez, Esther Durham and her husband Leo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a memorial service at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 1:00PM with chaplain Paul officiating. Burial of cremains will be Monday, August 31, 2009 at 11:00AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
