Urshel Gates

Urshel Gates, 83, of Polvadera, NM went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2008. Urshel was a native of New Mexico, born November 2, 1924 to Jack and Lila (Walters) Hobbs in Dexter, NM. Urshel is survived by husband Rev. Roy Gates of 68 years as of January 20th. Roy and Urshel pastored the First Assembly of God Church in Polvadera, NM for 38 years and served their community with a heart of love. Urshel is also survived by three daughters, Lila LeCrone of Ft. Worth, TX; Darlene Tucker and husband Tommie of Polvadera, NM; Sarah Lee Hogdin and husband Joe of Williamsburg, NM; daughter in law, Sandie Gates of Edgewood, NM; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many loving nieces and nephews. Urshel was preceded in death by daughters, Susie Gates; Sue Angeline Gates; son, Buster Gates; son in law, Ted LeCrone, Sr.; grandsons, Ted LeCrone, Jr. and Murphy Gates. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 2:30 PM at the First Assembly of God Church in Mountainair, NM. Tommy Crider will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Gates, Tracy Gates, Buster Gates, Jr., Devon Gates, Jonathan Nunn, Garret Blankenship, David Nunn and Levi Tucker.
