OBITUARY
James C. Solomon, 67, a lifetime resident of Torrance County passed away on February 28, 2007 at home with his loving family by his side. James was born March 28, 1939 in McIntosh, NM to Chan and Viola (Schultz) Solomon. He is survived by his wife Shirley of the home, mother Viola, daughters Barbara and husband Jim, Cindy, Lydia and husband David, sons James and wife Hope, Brian and wife Judy, grandchildren Melissa and fiancée Tony, James and wife Kelsey, Rusty, Tanner, Emilee, Jace, Nicole, Brian and Tori, brothers Olin and wife Kitty and Gayln, friend Elizabeth Blythe plus many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. James was preceded in death by his father Chan E. Solomon and grand daughter Brandi Tanell Crider. James was devoted to his family and was always ready to sit down and visit. He knew how to give good advice and he knew when to just listen. He loved for people to come by and drink coffee with him or just sit in the pick-up out in the pasture and look at the cows and watch the grass grow. He always had time for family and friends and he was always ready to lend a hand when help was needed. James was a farmer and rancher for 50 plus years and loved the land and the outdoors. He believed in a family run farm/ranch operation with all his heart and strived to hang on to his way of life even when circumstances made it difficult. He always tried to do right by people and his hand shake was his word. James made friends easily and had a special heart for young people who were interested in agriculture and ranching in any capacity. In any gathering if he went missing, we could usually locate him in playing with the babies and younger kids. James loved the Lord and had a deep relationship with Him. His illness strengthened his faith and he believed the Lord had a plan for him. We are going to miss him so much. Services were held March 3, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church in Estancia, NM with Pastor Michael Dominguez officiating. Interment followed at Estancia Cemetery.
