Lillie Mae Henson

Lillie Mae Henson, 80, of Moriarty, NM passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, January 26, 2009. She was born to the home of Samuel Willis and Suzie Beck in Tajique, NM on April 3, 1928. She graduated from Estancia High School where she met Marion (Mott) Henson whom she married on June 21, 1947. Lillie Mae worked in the Moriarty Public School cafeteria for 10 years when she started selling make-up, vitamins, and hand blown glass door to door. She went back to the Moriarty Public School system where she worked with special needs children for a few years until she started carrying the mail for the US Postal Service where she served from 1969 until she retired 32 years later. Lillie Mae was a life long member of The First Baptist Church where she served in many capacities, her favorite being a Children’s Sunday School Teacher. She was also an active member of the Extension Club, American Legion Auxiliary, the local 4-H club, and the Republican Party. Lillie Mae was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Willis Beck; her mother, Susie Beck; Oldest brother, James Willis Beck; Younger brother, Billy Dale Beck; sister, Margaret Bell; and her Great-grand-daughter, Hydee Irwin. She is survived by her husband, Marion (Mott) Henson of the family home; 3 sisters, Pauline Jantz of Phoenix, AZ; Freda Mantooth of Las Cruces, NM; and Helen Vaughn of McIntosh, NM; daughter, Barbara and Birchie West of Moriarty, NM ; and daughter, Sharon and Field Irwin of Ft. Sumner, NM; grandchildren, Brandy Barrett of Ft. Worth, TX; Buffy and Sid Ware of Moriarty, NM; Becky and Paul Crow of El Paso, TX; Holly and Wally Senetra of Rio Rancho, NM; Guy and Melanie Irwin of Bozeman, MT; Levi and Suzan Irwin of Clayton, NM; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:00AM at the First Baptist Church of Moriarty. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Mission Project of First Baptist Church, PO Box 33, Moriarty, NM 87035.
