Ora Mae Johnson

Ora Mae Johnson, 101, of Mountainair, NM, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM with her loving family beside her. Ora Mae was born January 22, 1904 in Ione, AR to Samuel A. and Dolly (Williams) Wells. She married Virgil M. Johnson on December 5, 1932 in Gran Quivira, NM. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1955. Her daughter, Sylvia Lewis of Gran Quivira, NM; grandson Mark Lewis of Gran Quivira, NM; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren survive Ora Mae. Her parents, Samuel and Dolly Wells; husband Virgil Johnson; son Coy Johnson; daughter Ruby Nell Johnson; great-granddaughter Verna Mae Lewis; six brothers; and one sister preceded her in death. All that knew and loved her will miss Ora Mae. Ora Mae will lie-in-state at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Mountainair, NM on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Gran Quivira Community Church. Ray Wells will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Karl Lewis, Sr., Mark Lewis, Glenn Lewis, Jason Lewis, Karl Lewis, Jr., and Adan Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Ora Mae’s friends and neighbors. Burial will follow at the White Lake Cemetery.
