Lila Chavez, 77, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at her home in Moriarty, NM, with her loving family at her bedside. Lila was born in Kennedy, NM on July 11, 1932 to Luciano and Rita (Quintana) Ortega. Lila married her loving husband of fifty- four years, Joe Willie Chavez, in Santa Fe, NM on June 15, 1955. She was a lifetime resident of Moriarty where she and Willie raised four daughters and one son. Lila was a very compassionate, loving, giving and caring person who always thought of others before herself. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother. Lila is preceded in death by her parents, Luciano and Rita Ortega. She is survived by her husband, Joe W. Chavez, daughters, Lucille Milton and her husband Lloyd, Margie Tenorio and Edward, Roxie Encinias and her husband Anthony, and Annette Chavez and Mike Arena; son, Joe W. Chavez and his wife, Valerie; three sisters, Molly Gallegos, Aneda Galvez, and Elesia Donia; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. The rosary will be recited at 9:00AM followed by Mass at 10:00AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. The celebrant of the Mass will be Rev. Kevin Iwuoha. Pallbearers will be Adam Milton, Andrew Milton, Daniel Tenorio, Michael Tenorio, Antonio Encinias and Drew Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Chavez, Jamie Chavez, Helen Waldorf, Marcella Aragon, Angie Sexton and Jerry Sexton. Burial of Cremains will take place at the San Antonio Catholic Cemetery in Tapia, NM on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 1:00PM
