Esther Inez Connell

Esther “Inez” Connell, 81, a resident of Lemitar, NM, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at home with her loving family beside her. Inez was born November 7, 1924 in Lazare, TX to James “Frank”, and Callie A. (Scates) Edwards. She married Leon Connell on March 24, 1944. Inez and Leon moved to Lemitar in 1984 coming from Albuquerque, NM where they had lived since 1966. Inez and Leon were Associate Pastors at the Assembly of God Church in Polvadera, NM. They were Evangelist for the Assembly of God Church in Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. She worked for the Albuquerque and Roswell public schools in the cafeteria. Inez was a woman with Jesus’ heart who knew no strangers. She was a homemaker, church worker, and great cook who loved life, family and her Lord Jesus. Inez is survived by her husband, Leon of the home; sons, Windell Connell of Lemitar, NM, and Bruce Connell of Albuquerque, NM; a daughter, Martha Dixon and her husband, Wayne; a brother, Sonny Edwards of Lemitar, NM; a sister, Betty Jo Davis of Lemitar, NM; six grandchildren, Tammy Jordan of Little Rock, AR, Jody Dixon of Texarkana, TX, Jason Connell, Callie Connell, and Paige Connell of Lemitar, NM, and Leslie Ann Andrade of Ft. Meyers, FL; and six great-grandchildren. Her parents, Frank Edwards in September 1981, and Sweetie Edwards in November 1981; a son, Leslie Connell in September 2003; and a sister, Retha Connell in October 1982, preceded Inez in death. Inez will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Inez will lie-in-state at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM on Friday, November 25, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Mountainair, NM at 10:00 AM. Reverend Wayne Dixon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dan Brandas, Bruce Connell, Alan Pohl, Robert Edwards, Oral Connell, Joe Davis, Jason Moore, and Heath Connell. Honorary pallbearers will be Juanita Davis, Heather Edwards, Dean Baca, and all other nieces and nephews. Interment will take place at the White Lake Cemetery in Gran Quivera, NM.
