Dovie Lee Gibbs

Dovie Lee Gibbs, 92, a long time resident of Estancia, NM passed away on Friday, November 25, 2005 at her home in Estancia with her loving family beside her. She was born May 1, 1913 in Slidell, TX to Lloyd L. and Myrtle V. (Justus) Bailey. She married James Hiram Gibbs on August 18, 1931; he preceded her in death in 1977. Dovie is survived by her daughter, Mary Lee Gibbs-Roberts, and her husband Kyle B. of Montrose, CO; two sisters, Ester Thomas, and Goldie McMath; five grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eleven brothers & sisters, one son, James L. Gibbs, two daughters, Myrtle Jeanette Gibbs, and Helen Marie Gibbs, two grandchildren, Thomas Russell West, and Bobbie Deon Shield. She will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and sweet friend, and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2005- 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Estancia, with Pastor Eric Turner officiating. Burial will follow at the Estancia Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Shield, Allen Shield, Dan Shield, Joe Gibbs, Chris Thompson, Justin Gibbs, Brian Gibbs, and Kyle Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Derrell Winn, David Thomas, and Carl Bradley.
