James Frank Edwards

James Frank Edwards, better known as “Sonnie” or “Cuckabur” of Lemitar, NM, formerly of Gran Quivira, NM passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM with his loving family beside him. Sonnie was born on March 5, 1944, in Mountainair, NM to James Frank and Callie (Scates) Edwards. He married Margaret Bates on June 3, 1967 and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Retha and Inez Connell. He is survived by his son, Robert Holms Edwards, and his finance, Rachel Paz of Lemitar; daughter, Heather Mitchell and her husband, Joshua B Mitchell, of Lemitar; ; sister, Betty Jo Davis of Lemitar; brother-in-law, Leon Connell, of Lemitar; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Aviewing will be held at the Polvadera Assembly of God Church in Polvadera, NM on Saturday, February 14, 2009 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. A funeral service will held at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, in Mountainair, NM, on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 1:00PM. Interment will follow at the White Lake Cemetery in Gran Quivira, NM. Pallbearers will be Sean Turney, Ron Turney, Bill Daniels, Charlie Daniels, Roger Daniels, Bubba Daniels, Heath Connell, Joe Davis, Brian Hubbard, and Ed Pharis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Warren Scates, Tommy Scates, Bruce Connell, Wendell Connell, Polone Valenzuela, and Calvin McGinnis. Arrangements entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary.
