Petrita A. Marez

Petrita A. Marez, 95, a longtime resident of McIntosh, NM passed away at her home on Sunday, September 27, 2009. Petrita was born in Kelly, NM on September 24, 1914 to Salomon and Ruth (Sanchez) Apodaca. Petrita is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Marez, who passed away in 1985; three sons, George, Gilbert and Louie Mares; daughter, Ruth Mares; and brother, Joe Apodaca. She is survived by four sons, Abran and his wife, Theresa Mares of CA, Edward and his wife, Rachel Mares of CA, Mike Mares of Albuquerque, NM, and Paul and his wife, Christe Mares of CA; four daughters, Elizabeth Sanchez of CA, Mary Mares of CA, Virginia Hernandez of Antelope Springs, NM, and Esther and her husband, Leo Durham of Albuquerque, NM.; 34 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM from 5:00PM to 7:00PM followed by the Rosary which will be recited at 7:00PM. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM with Fr. Kevin Iwuoha officiating. Pallbearers are Robert Castillo, Jodie Meza, Eddie Mares, Leo Durham Sr., Keanu Alaniz, and Leo Durham Jr. Honorary Pallbearer is Salomon Alderete. Burial will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2009 after the Funeral Mass at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Albuquerque, NM.
