Laverne June Pruitt

LaVerne June Pruitt, 79, a resident of Estancia, NM passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009 in Rio Rancho, NM. LaVerne was born on June 13, 1930 in Sunray, TX to Verne and Martha (Strecker) Howard. She lived in Estancia since 1970, formally of Roswell, NM. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Estancia and of the Ewing Extension Club. LaVerne did record keeping at the Torrance County Sheriff’s Office. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons, Richard and his wife Sharon Pruitt of Rio Rancho, NM and Jimmy Pruitt of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Terrie Lynn Pruitt Walthers and her husband Karl of Texico, NM; brother, Donald Gene Howard of San Diego, CA; and five grandsons, Joshua Walthers, Shaun Walthers, Jesse Walthers, Lucas Walthers, and Donald “D.J”. Pruitt. There will be a viewing on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Estancia from 1:00 to 2:00PM. The funeral service will be at 2:00 on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Estancia in Estancia, NM with Pastor Rob Hollis of First Baptist Church of Texico officiating. Pallbearers will be Richard Pruitt, Don Pruitt, Jim Pruitt, Roger Hawkins, Joshua Walthers, Shaun Walthers, Jesse Walthers, Lucas Walthers, and D.J. Pruitt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Aday, Larry Hendricks, and Michale Hendricks. Burial will follow the service at the Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM.
