Wayne Long

Wayne Long, 50, of Estancia, NM passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at his home with his loving family beside him. Wayne was born on December 17, 1958, in Santa Fe, NM, to Harvey and Wilma Lee (Simmons) Long. He was a long-time resident of Estancia, NM. Wayne was a Little League Baseball Coach and a Basketball Coach in his former years. He married Rita Chavez on November 19, 1977. Wayne is survived by his father, Harvey Long of Roswell, NM; wife, Rita of Estancia, NM; sons, Johnathan Long and his wife Eden of Phoenix, AZ; Joshua Long and his wife Joni of Estancia, NM; and Michael Long of Estancia; brothers, David Long and his wife, Kathlene; Harvey Lee Long and his wife Kathy; sisters, Karen Hudson, and Diane Clements and her husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Shelby Long and Kale Long; and long time friend, Bob Wallace. He is preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Lee Long; step-mother, Ima Jean Long; sister, Gloria Wilson; brother-in-law, Dan Wilson; and long-time friend, Linda Wallace. There will be a memorial service at the Estancia Middle School Gym in Estancia, NM, on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 10:00AM, with Paul Benoit officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at the Estancia Cemetery, in Estancia, NM. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Long, Greg Long, Mark Valdez, Chris Valdez, Randy Wallace, Bobby Wallace, Ronald Wallace and Terrence Porter.
