Claudio B. Chavez

Claudio “Clyde” B. Chavez, age 74, was born on November 20, 1931 in Tapia, NM. Clyde was called home by our Lord on January 14, 2006. He was a lifelong resident of Stanley, NM. Clyde was a man of great faith. He was a dedicated and loving husband of 49 years to his wife Cora Chavez. Clyde was a caring and loving father to his four children, Ray Chavez of Riverside, CA, Jamie Chavez and his wife Bernadette of Stanley, NM, Helen Waldorf and her husband Guy of Stanley, NM, and Marcella Aragon and her husband Tommy of Moriarty, NM. His grandchildren, Claudia Chavez, David Chavez, Samantha Chavez, Sara Chavez, Joshua Aragon, John Chavez, Morgan Aragon, Hayden Waldorf, and Paige Waldorf, were a great pleasure and pride for him. Clyde served proudly as a United States Marine. He worked for King Brother’s Ranch as a truck driver for 54 years. He was known to family and truck driver friends as Goldfinger. Clyde had a compassionate nature and spread his zest for life to all those he encountered on a daily basis. He will long be remembered for the genuine smile that never left his face, his optimism, and the kind words he expressed to all. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Onofre and Catalino Chavez; and two brothers, Manuel G. Chavez, and Raymond T. Chavez. He leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Joe Willie Chavez and his wife Lila, Chris Chavez and his wife Rita, Mary Pena and her husband Clyde, Lupe Chavez and his wife Eva, David Chavez and his wife Mickie, Linda Chavez, Tommy Chavez and his wife Beatrice, Grace Esquibel and her husband Jesse, Adrian Chavez, and Buck Chavez and his wife Dee. We will always love and miss you! There will be a Viewing for Clyde on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 7:00 PM at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. Father William Young will be officiating. Pallbearers will be David Chavez, John Chavez, Joshua Aragon, Hayden Waldorf, Rudy Sandoval, Don King, Freddie Cardenas, and Max Lopez. Honorary pallbearers will be Claudia Chavez, Samantha Chavez, Sara Chavez, Morgan Aragon, and Paige Waldorf. Interment will follow at the Stanley Cemetery in Stanley, NM.
