William Harper Mcfarland

William Harper McFarland, 84, of Stanley, NM, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 in Roswell, NM with his loving family beside him. Harp was born October 26, 1921 In Ballinger, TX to John Harp and Willie (Wood) McFarland. He married Elsie Matherly on February 26, 1947. She preceded him in death in January 2003. Harp grew up in Texas, and lived the life of a hard working cowboy. He worked for 6 or 7 days a week, and then drove 400 miles to a roping just for the fun of it. His hobby was his work. Harp is survived by his sons, Bill McFarland and his wife Myra of Roswell, NM, Jim McFarland and his wife Sandi of Canyon Lake, TX, and Lee McFarland of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Glen McFarland and his wife Norma of Graham, TX; four grandchildren, J.P. McFarland and his wife Jenn of Tucson, AZ, Jenny Salgado and her husband Rick of Rio Rancho, NM, Travis Shives and his wife Tammy of Ft. Hood, TX, and Wesley McFarland of College Station, TX; five great-grandchildren, Braelyn, Oriana, Noah, Kiara, and Brody; and many other family members and a host of friends. All that knew and loved Harp will miss him. There will be Viewing for Harp on Friday, January 20, 2006 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Stanley Union Church in Stanley, NM. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the Stanley Union Church in Stanley, NM. Reverend Jim Thompson will officiate.
