Mary C Markel

Mary C. Markel, 88, of Moriarty, NM, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Mary was born in Ooglah, OK, on June 10, 1920 to Charley and Rachel (Chapham) Scott. Mary lived in Moriarty for 43 years coming from Estancia, NM where she had previously lived for 36 years. She belonged to the VFW along with her husband. She loved flowers. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Walter Chant, and her second husband, Lloyd Markel. She is survived by her sons, Harold Markel of Mimbres, NM, Gary Chant of Glove, AZ, and Ronald “Ronnie” Chant of Tigard, OR; daughter, Katherine Stalnaker of McIntosh, NM; and brother Ed Scott of Estancia, NM; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00PM. Services for Mary will be at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Estancia, NM on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:00PM with Rev. Albert Hagen officiating.
