James Ward Young, 84, of Estancia, NM, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the family home. James was born on April 16, 1924 in Estancia, NM. James was preceded in death by his parents Jake and Ozella Young. He is survived by his wife, Dee Dee Young; his daughter, Susan Young and husband Robert Prewitt IV; his son, Troy Young and wife, Jane Young; granddaughters, Olivia Young and DeeDee Sue Burington and husband Jay; great grandsons, Jason, James Labbe, and Chandler Burington. James attended the Estancia Schools, graduating from high school in 1942. He enrolled in New Mexico A & M (NMSU) in Las Cruces and graduated with his degree in 1949. Following graduation, he was employed by the Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management. After his retirement from the BLM, Jim and wife Dee Dee moved to Estancia where he pursued his interest in ranching. James and wife Dee Dee were active members of the United Methodist Church for many years. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Moriarty, NM with Rev. Charles Spooner officiating. Friends in the community are invited to attend. Interment will follow the service at the Estancia Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to:
