Minnie Edna Connell, 88, of Mountainair, NM, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in Socorro, NM. Minnie was born on March 20, 1920 in Gran Quivira, NM to Columbus and Minnie (Whitlow) Connell. Minnie is survived by her niece Lola Harris and husband, Rex; nephew, Oral Connell and wife, Bobbie; their kids, Heath and Krystyn Connell; niece, Mellene Moore and husband, Fred, all of Mountainair, NM; one brother, Leon Connell of Lemitar, NM; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Woodrow, James, Roy and Troy Connell; 3 sisters, Alpha Wade, Edith and Martha Connell. Minnie was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Mountainair for many years and also of the Gran Quivira Church for many years while growing up in Gran Quivira and until moving to Mountainair in the late 60’s. When she was young, Minnie worked for an aircraft company in California during World War II. Later, she worked for the U.S. Forest Service for several years. Minnie was the most free -hearted person you would ever meet and always put her nieces and nephews before herself. Even though she never had kids of her own, she had more than most, because all of us were her kids. She loved each and every one of us and, no matter what she was doing, she always had time for us. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March12, 2009 from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM. A funeral service will be held following the viewing at 3:00 P.M. at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary. Interment will follow at the White Lake Cemetery in Gran Quivira, NM. Pastors Doris Jaquess and Shirley Sweat will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Heath Connell, Krystyn Connell, Bill Wells, Wess Wells, Jamye Moore & Rex Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Moore, Jayson Moore and Dina Moore. Arrangements entrusted to:
