CPL Rodney Manuel “Manny”Alvarado Jr., 23, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Camp Lejeune, NC. Manny was born on February 9, 1986, in Carlsbad, NM to Rodney Manuel Alvarado Sr. and Sylvia Rodriguez. Manny lived in McIntosh for four years prior to moving to Camp Lejeune, NC. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. He graduated from Moriarty High School in 2004, was a CPL in the US Marine Corp and served four tours in Iraq. Manny is survived by his parents, Rodney Manuel Alvarado Sr. and his step-mother Selina Leidelmeyer of La Quinta, CA; mother, Sylvia Rodriguez and step-father Ruben Barraza of Albuquerque, NM; grandparents, Rosil and Juanita Alvarado of McIntosh, NM and Fidel and Eugenia Rodriguez of Malaga, NM; brother, Christopher Alvarado, of Albuquerque, NM; step-brother, Fernado Castaneda and his wife Yani of Phoenix, AZ; step-sisters, Deanne Molina and her husband Dominic of Whittier, CA, and Ashley Leidelmeyer of La Quinta, CA; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. Rosary will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 7:00PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with Rev. Fr. William Young officiating. Burial will follow at the McIntosh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Art Alvarado, Mark Alvarado, Christopher Alvarado, Michael Rodriguez, Vincent Alvarado and Josh Manker.
