Debra Ann (Lovejoy) Pressly a resident of Sandia Park, NM passed on to heaven at the age of 45 from breast cancer on December 31, 2009 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Debbie arrived in this world on November 16, 1964 in San Antonio, TX to the proud parents of Jerry and Pat Lovejoy. She graduated from Belton High School in the Class of 1983 where she met her sweetheart and husband Gary Pressly of 23 years. She obtained a BS in Education from Central Missouri State University and moved to Florida to start her marriage and career as an elementary school teacher. After obtaining her MS in Special Education from University of South Florida she moved to New Mexico where she has been a teacher in the Moriarty School District for the past 13 years. She was certified in Visual Impairment and Orientation & Mobility, then developed and lead the district’s program for the blind and visually impaired. With the Lord’s guidance, Debbie changed the lives of numerous students by tailoring the instructional methods to meet each child’s needs. She enjoyed hiking with her dogs, camping and auto racing with family, and vacationing with loved ones across the country.
She is survived by her husband Gary Pressly, parents Jerry and Pat Lovejoy, brothers Mike and Tim Lovejoy, grandparents Dallas and Florence Roberts, in-laws Mary and Bruce Pressly, and her dog Dixie.
Although Debbie lived most of her life with the threat of cancer, it only made her will stronger in the devotion to her family, marriage and career. Debbie would like to especially thank her parents and in-laws for their continued support throughout her battle against cancer. Now that Debbie has started her new journey in heaven, she will serve the Lord with the same vigor as she did on earth.
