Adelia Frieda Rusteberg, 85, of Moriarty, NM passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at her home with her loving family beside her. Mrs. Rusteberg was born to Herman and Ollie F. (Illert) Louer, Sr. on May 18, 1924, at rural Valmeyer, IL; grew up there on the family farm. She married Homer C. Rusteberg on October 17, 1941. She and her husband farmed at Valmeyer. They moved to Highland, IL in 1962 to farm northeast of town. They moved into the town of Highland, IL in 1969; Mrs. Rusteberg moved to Moriarty, NM in the late 1990’s to be with her daughter. Besides farming she worked many other jobs for numerous companies. She was an excellent seamstress in Highland, IL and Moriarty, NM and did alterations and made clothing for others for many years. She was a former member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, former Order of the Eastern Star Chapter in Columbia, IL, and the Estancia Valley VFW Auxiliary. Ike Cole Post 3370. Mrs. Rusteberg is preceded in death by her parents, Herman & Ollie F. (nee Illert) Louer, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Nancy A. Rusteberg; brothers, Warren “Bud” Louer, Floyd Louer (as an infant), and Louis Knobloch. She is survived by her son, Homer H. Rusteberg and his wife, Sharon, of Highland, IL; daughter, Shirley Ashton of Moriarty, owner and operator of Jenk’s Café in Moriarty, NM; grandchildren, Melissa K. “Missie” Grapperhaus and her husband, Kenneth, of St. Charles, MO, Timothy M. “Tim” Rusteberg and his wife, Michelle, of Highland, IL, Christina M. Thacker of Albuquerque, NM, Matthew G. “Matt” Rusteberg of Highland, IL and Dr. Jennifer Martin of St. Charles, MO; great grandchildren, Gage S. Grapperhaus, Adelia “Addie” A. Grapperhaus, Kahlea R. Grapperhaus, Carmyn M. Grapperhaus, Marissa A. Rusteberg, Emma E. Rusteberg, Maximus A. “Max” Martin, Charles L. Smelley, Kristle Amanda Lee Thacker; brother, Herman H. Louer and his wife, Margaret “Maggie”, of Highland, IL, Carlyle W. Louer and his wife, Phoebe, of Swansea, IL, sister, Arline M. Gappy and her husband, John, of Las Vegas, NV. There will be a memorial service at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 2:00PM with Chaplin Gary Thieme officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Heritage Hospice/Heritage Hands of Hope, 1700 Louisiana Blvd. NE # 320, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
