Gilbert Torres

Gilbert Torres, 70, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 at his home, with his loving family beside him. Gilbert was born on February 7, 1939 in Punta de Agua, NM to Sosteno and Ana Maria (Chavez). He lived in Mountainair, NM for 18 years coming from Albuquerque, NM. He married Ursula Lopez, his wife of 53 years, on July 13, 1956 in El Paso, TX. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Ursula; daughters; Rosemary Marquez, Joyce and her husband Rick Valdez, Karen and her husband Adam Baca, and Michelle and her husband Joseph Roybal; brothers, Cipriano, Alejandro “Alex”, Cande, Arturo, and Jose Torres; sisters, Bernicia Torres and Clory Gutierrez; nine grandchildren, Beverly, Merlinda, Victor, Ivan, Joseph, Renee, Christine, Matthew, and Amanda; seven great grandchildren and one on the way. Rosary will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 7:00PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Manzano, NM. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 11:00AM also at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Manzano, NM with Rev. Fr. Ron Stone officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Baca, Joe Roybal, Rick Valdez, Orlando Lopez, James Lopez, Bobo Crapse, Gilbert Lovato, Gene McKinney, and Michael Walters. Burial of cremated remains will follow immediately after the Mass at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in Manzano, NM.
