Virginia O'Neal

November 28, 1923 — January 24, 2010

Virginia Williams O’Neal, was born November 28, 1923, east of Moriarty at the home of her parents, John and Maggie Williams. Virginia died Sunday, January 24, 2010. She started school in Moriarty and graduated from Moriarty High School in 1940. Virginia and Lewis attended school together. They married June 27, 1942. Lewis was called to World War II August 1942. Virginia moved back in with her parents while Lewis was gone. Virginia taught school in Moriarty, while Lewis was in Germany. Virginia made many adjustments in her life: Her brother Joe died 1932, Virginia’s mother died May 1944. Lewis was wounded in August 1944, and wounded again in February of 1945. This time his wounds left him totally blind. Lewis was discharged from the Army in December of 1945. He came back to Moriarty where he and Virginia have lived ever since. Virginia is survived by: her two daughters, Maggie Rose of Albuquerque, Mollie and husband Bill Pittman of Moriarty. Two granddaughters survive her, Cassie and John Eisenberger of Clovis and Kyria and Cris Encinias of Hobbs. Three great grandchildren, Kade, Kinsey and Mollie, also survive her, and one brother Dan Williams, of Moriarty. Her husband Lewis, parents, three brothers, Joe, Roy, Loyd and one sister Dorothy precede her in death. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Moriarty Civic Center with Pastor Glenn O’Neal officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Pittman, Ray Quintero, Kenneth Maese, Kade Pittman, Cris Encinias, and John Eisenberger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darlene Mayes, Connie Guinn and Chrissie Putback. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Lions Club of Moriarty.
