Cayetano Andres Chavez Jr.

Cayetano Andres Chavez Jr., 49, passed away at his home in Moriarty, NM on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Cayetano was born to Cayetano L. Chavez Sr. and Simona Trujillo on January 16, 1960 in Vaughn, NM. Cayetano was a lifetime resident of Moriarty. He graduated from Moriarty High School in 1979. He was a member of the National High School Rodeo Association for many years. Cayetano was preceded in death by his parents, Cayateno and Simona Chavez; brother, Antonio Chavez, Sr. and sister, Martha DuGan. He is survived by his wife, Julia Chavez; children, Kristian Chavez of Albuquerque, BeAnna Chavez of Albuquerque, Sky Chavez of Moriarty, and Tiffany Chavez of Moriarty; grandchild, Chad Mortensen; brothers, Joe Chavez and his wife Jane, Albert Chavez and his wife ClaraBelle, Carlos Chavez and his wife, Leslie, all of Moriarty; sisters, Frances Cuellar and her husband Mario of Alabama, Maria Thompson and her husband Dave of Texas, Delores Carson of Texas, and Elena Chavez and her husband Donald of Rio Rancho; uncle, Manuel Chavez; aunts, Florinda Encinias and Celina Encinias; and In-laws, Richard and Kay Eager. There will be a Rosary at the Moriarty Civic Center on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Tom Schenk officiating. Pallbearers will be Al Trujillo, Jerry Trujillo, Leroy Greer, Steve Chavez, Joe W. Torres Jr., and Chano Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert Chavez, Joe Chavez, Carlos Chavez, Tony Chavez, Jr., Chad Mortensen, Joseph Chavez, Lucas Chavez, Dustan Moyers, Frankie Encinias, Donny Carson, and Jose Chavez. Burial of cremains will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcomed.
