Simplicio "Sam" Rocha

Simplicio “Sam” S. Rocha, 88, of Estancia, NM passed away on June 1 2010 in Albuquerque, NM. Sam was born in Barstow, TX on March 2, 1922 to Francisco and Lucia (Salaz) Rocha. Sam was a long time resident of Estancia. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and the American Legion. Sam is survived by his son, Alfonso Rocha of Colorado; daughters, Mary Sedillo and her husband Pete of Estancia, NM, Bertha Moreland of Ruidoso Downs, NM, Terri Utter and her husband Fred of Tularosa, NM, Cruzita Valdez and her husband Rick of Ruidoso Downs, NM, Lucy Lucero and her husband Richard of La Luz, NM, Gloria Chavez and her husband Pat of Ruidoso Downs, NM, Mary Toni Corona and her husband Leonard of San Patricio, NM; brother, Cresencio Rocha; sister, Joaquina Rocha; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Librada Provencio Rocha; sons, Tommy Rocha and Simplicio Rocha Jr.; brothers, Richard Rocha, Joe Rocha, Guillermo Rocha, Alfredo Rocha; and granddaughter, Stephanie Utter. Deacon Juan Lucero will recite the Rosary on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 7:00PM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Estancia NM. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 10:00AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Church with Rev. Fr. William Young officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at the Estancia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse Sedillo, Jacob Sedillo, David Salazar, Joe Garcia, Manuel Corona and Philip Luna.
