Florinda Chavez

Florinda G. Chavez, 93, of Willard, NM passed away January 2, 2007 at her home in Willard, NM surrounded by her family. Florinda was born May 3, 1913 in La Cienega, NM to Jose Antonio and Ramoncita (Candelaria) Garcia. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Willard, NM along with Our Lady of Sorrows Alter Society, the Willard Senior Citizen. She worked very hard for the Church and was always ready to serve the Church with anything they needed. Florinda’s house was always open to anyone stranded and transits that would ride the train that stopped in Willard. She loved quilting and crocheting for all of her kids and grand kids. She was proceed in death by her parents; husband, Antonio “Tony” J. Chavez; son, Eutimio (Tootsie) Chavez. Florinda is survived by her son, Lincoln and wife Josephine Chavez of Willard, NM; step son, Bobby and wife Canda Chavez of Willard, NM; daughters, Betty and husband Henry Tenorio of Socorro, NM; Nora and husband Robert Zamora of Albuquerque, NM; Eufemia and husband Candido Lucero of La Zorra NM; Patsy and husband Anthony Tenorio of McIntosh, NM, Joyce Garcia of Willard, NM, Teresa and husband Felix Barela of Tajique, NM, Odette and husband Phil Anaya of Edgewood, NM; step daughter, Ramona and husband Gavino Herrera of Albuquerque, NM; 50 grandchildren; 118 great grandchildren and 33 great great grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Willard, NM. A Mass will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Willard, NM Father Ed Herrera her grandson and Father Ron Stone will be officiating. Internment will follow at the Willard Cemetery in Willard, NM. Pallbearers are Ethan Zamora, Wayne Lucero, Aaron Barela, Abe Chavez, Monica Vanlandingham, MaryEllen Herrera, Yvette Martinez, Sarah Chavez, Genelle Chavez, Arlene Mendez and Analisa Anaya.
