Joe J Brazil

Joe J. Brazil, 82, passed away October 30, 2006 at his home in Scholle. He was born April 19, 1924 in Scholle, NM. He grew up on the family ranch and attended school at Scholle, Mountainair and Socorro. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. When he returned from the services, he began ranching and began a construction business, which he ran through out his life. He married Marjorie Price in 1949 and together they had four children. Joe J was an accomplished and well-know western artist. He was past president of both the Mountainair Rotary Club and the Torrance County Fair Board. He was a charter member of the Mountainair Heritage Foundation, recognized for his contributions that touched our souls and hearts with his art. He was a recipient of the Heritage Preservation Award for inspiring the cowboy way of life. He was of the Christian Faith. His parents Joe J and Marie E. Brazil and a sister Belina Ramirez preceded him in death. Joe J. is survived by three sons, Greg and wife Suzan Brazil of Scholle; Wayne Brazil of Tatum, NM; Clay and wife June Brazil of Moriarty, NM; one daughter, Leah Jo and husband Jimmy Joseph of Artesia, NM. He is survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Lopez of Albuquerque, NM; Martina Franklin of Socorro, NM; Marcella Dios of New Jersey and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 from 2-7 PM at the Assembly of God Campgrounds in Mountainair, NM. A Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Assembly of God Campgrounds in Mountainair, NM, Wayne Brazil will be officiating. Pallbearers are Jack Mathews, Frank Hill, Delbert Autrey, Junior Kubena, Randy Autrey, Orval Watts, and Dave Stromi.
