Alvie Bud Gilliland

Alvie “Bud” Gilliland, 70, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2006 at his home in Moriarty, NM. Bud was born November 2, 1935 in Floydada, Texas to Robert and Edith (Thompson) Gilliland. He was the third child of six, Louise King of Muleshoe, TX (deceased); Wanda and Tony Jones, of Plainview, TX; Margaret and John Stevens of Muleshoe, TX; Wayne Gilliland of Tucumcari, NM (deceased); and Eddie and Donna Gilliland of Roswell, NM. The family moved to Muleshoe, TX, where Bud attended school and then farmed with his dad and on his own. He married Sharon Evans, August 23, 1963. He moved to New Mexico in 1970 where he farmed and operated a trucking company until September of this years. He has two children; Andrea and husband Duane Kinsley of Albuquerque, NM and Laurel and husband Todd Hopkins of Congress, AZ.; four grandchildren; Tye married to Brenna; Tristen; Tamber and Tiffany; and two great grandchildren; Ryan and Tacie Hopkins. There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Moriarty at 2:00 PM Tom Schenk will be officiating.
