William Thomas “Tommy” Tyree Jr., 82, of Corona, NM passed away in Belen on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Tommy was born September 19, 1927 to William Thomas and Lily A. (Cox) Tyree Sr. in Shafter, TX. Tommy married June, his loving wife of 62 years, who proceeded him in death in January of this year, in October of 1948 in Carrizozo, NM. He was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad. During the early part of 1949 Tommy and June lived and worked in several places in Arizona. They moved to Vaughn in the summer of 1949 where Tommy helped build the water pipeline from Duran to Vaughn. He was a member of the Bever-Bond Post in the American Legion and was commander for several years. Tommy is survived by his sons, Mitchell Ray Tyree and his wife Charline of Eunice, NM and Bill Tyree and his wife Nora of Belen, NM; brother, Johnny J. Tyree; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing at 9:00AM on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Corona High School Auditorium. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00AM on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Corona High School Auditorium with Rev. Ray Wells officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Sultimier, Melvin Sultimier, Joseph Erramouspe, Louie Erramouspe, Virgil Owens, and Tad Lynch. Burial will be at the Corona Cemetery in Corona, NM. A reception will follow at the Corona High School Recreation Room.
