Dorothy Humphries, born in Pittsburg, PA on March 30, 1923, completed her life cycle this last Monday, Sept. 6, 2010. She loved the military lifestyle which she shared with, and inherited from her late husband, J.O. Humphries. They traveled all over the US, Canada, and Europe, but the place she loved most was Disneyland in California. She was one of Disneyland’s first employee’s opening Disneyland in 1955. After her husband retired in NM, Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for the Rehabilitation Center of NM for over 25 years. She retired in the early 1990’s and enjoyed various hobbies. She was a member of the Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughters Gail West and Carol Thomas, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and her beloved cat, Leah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry E. and Matilda Louise (Ulrich) Donaldson; husband, J. O. Humphries, who passed away in November of 1989; and son, Robert Earl Humphries. There will be a viewing at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. The Funeral Service will take place at 4:00PM on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary with Chaplin Paul Gleason officiating. Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque or Animal Humane of New Mexico.
