Lorene Love-Groff Davis

Lorene Love Groff Davis, 86, of El Paso, Texas passed away June 5, 2006 in El Paso, Texas. Lorene was born December 16, 1919 in Tapia, NM to Albert and Amy Love. Lorene had a twin brother, Joe Dean Love that preceded her death. She lived her first forty years in Moriarty, NM. Even living in El Paso for the past forty six years she always felt Moriarty was her home. Lorene married Lawrence Groff in 1937. A daughter, Jo Ann, was born to the marriage. Lorene had the honor of being Moriarty’s First Lady in 1954 when Lawrence was elected Moriarty’s first Mayor. Lawrence preceded her in death in 1965. Lorene was honored to be invited to participate in the dedication of the new civic center in 2001. Lorene married Jack Davis. A son Roger was born. Lorene and Jack were married 46 years May 30, 2006. Lorene has been a caretaker to all during her life. She always put others before herself. She tool great pride in keeping her home clean and orderly. The day of her stroke she was working around the house. She was thawing steak for dinner. Her grandson Gary was like her own son. He has lived with Lorene and Jack most of his life. Gary was her hands when she fell and broke both wrist four years ago. As soon as she could she was taking care of everyone else. She was like the energizer bunny. She never stopped. She is survived by her husband Jack Davis; her daughter Jo Ann Del Curto; her son Roger Davis; grandchildren, Gary Davis; Scott Carter; and David Carter and his wife Monique; great grandchildren, Dylan Carter; Lawrence Reese Carter; Ashley and Alyssa Carter; many nieces and nephews. Lorene was preceded in death by her mother Amy; her dad Albert; her brother Joe Dean and Woodrow Love, a sister Alva Lee Chandler; a half-brother Elmer and half sister Cloy. Today we remember her with love and sadness. She is free of pain today and with her Lord. We are the ones with a huge void. But let’s know Lorene fulfilled her purpose here on earth and is now waiting for us in heaven so she can continue to take care of us. There will be a viewing on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Moriarty, NM. Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Moriarty, NM Tom Schenk will be officiating. Internment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. Pallbearers will be David Carter, Scott Carter, Gary Davis, Herman Thompson, Mike Anaya, and Adon Encinias. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce King, Lewis O’Neal, red Barkley and Carl Cannon.
