Henry (Hank) H. Van Es. a resident of McIntosh, N.M., passed away at his home on October 17, 2017. Hank was born December 1, 1947 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands to Catherine and Marinus Van Es. The family immigrated to the United States in December of 1951. Hank attended schools in San Francisco, Ca., joined the Air Force and eventually graduated from The School of Geodetic Sciences at Ohio State University. He worked for various companies in California, the Southwest, Colorado, Alaska, just to name a few. He also spent time in the Philippines looking for that hidden treasure everyone dreams of. Sometime during his career as a geophysicist, the ocean was calling and he learned to sail and bought a 34’ sailboat. His first sailing adventure was from San Diego to Catalina Island and from there he sailed the coast of Mexico, the Sea of Cortez, Costa Rica and finally through the Panama Canal. He retired his boat in Texas after two years of sailing. Hank eventually settled down in McIntosh, N.M. where he spent his time building his home and helping at InTox Products in Moriarty. He was an avid reader. Hank worked effortlessly to fight for the rights of the citizens of Torrance County. He was admired and respected as the Go-to-Guy by his friends. He looked forward to his morning breakfast and intense conversations with his good friends. Hank was survived and beloved by his two sisters and a nephew.
