Ralph "Jim" James Otting

MSGT Ralph (Jim) Otting, USAF retired, 84, of Mountainair, New Mexico passed away at his home Monday, August 7, 2017. Jim graduated from Fitzgerald High School, Davison, Michigan and served our country through the United States Army and the United States Air Force. At the age of 17 his army enlistment took him to the Korean conflict where he was shot eight times and received the Purple Heart. After a lateral conversion to the United States Air Force he served in Vietnam and retired with nearly 21 years of service in 1972. The greatest honors Jim has passed on to his extra-large family were his great sense of humor and the love and honor of our great country. His family, his country and his pets where his greatest loves. Jim was very close to his friends and family and leaves behind many broken hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mabel Otting; his lovely daughter, Cindy Otting and son-in-law, Britton Marshall. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Josephine Otting; daughter, Debbie Marshall; son. Randy Otting, US Navy, retired and wife Tamra Otting and grandchildren, Scott Albritton, US Air Force retired, and wife Suntok, Heather Konoval and husband Adrian, Ryan Otting, Katie Otting, and Lindsay Marshall, great grandchildren, Josh, Christian, Gabriella, Lilliana, Brayden and Kylee, and many cousins nieces, and nephews who adored Jim as the life of the party. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. A Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. followed by the Celebration of Mass at 11 a.m. at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Manzano, New Mexico. Father Peccatiello will officiate. The burial will be at 3 PM at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Arrangements were entrusted to Harris Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, New Mexico.
