Michael William Kerns

November 23, 1957 — July 10, 2017

In Loving Memory of Michael W. Kerns, age 59, died on Monday July 10th, 2017 at his home in Moriarty, New Mexico of Cancer (Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma) Michael is survived by ¬his brother Anthony W. Kerns, of Battle Ground, Indiana; his younger brother Christopher ‘Shawn’ Kerns, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and his Sister Sandra L. Wesley, of Moriarty, N.M. He was born on November 23 in 1957, to Jimmie L Kerns and Mary E.(Stetler) Kerns, both deceased, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana, majoring in Fine Art. In the early part of his life he became a Professional Dog Groomer and owned, bred & showed Afghan Hounds, Cocker Spaniels & Chihuahuas. He moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in the early 1980’s and accepted a position with Via Flora, Inc. There he became a highly sought after Florist & Professional Party planner in South Florida for the next 23 years, after moving to Albuquerque, N.M., where he worked for more than 10 years as a florist & wedding planner at Peoples Flowers, Albuquerque, N.M. Michael loved many things, but above all his family. His interests were both vast & passionate. He had an amazing zeal & zest for life, people, animals & the world in general. He was a chef & grill master. In the last year he enjoyed a new found love of family history & ancestry. He loved every form of art, music, dance, movies, stage performing & singing. He had recently joined a drumming circle and loved traveling. He was a social, active man who was deeply committed to his beliefs. His family and friends will always remember him as a person who loved his life, his Friends & his Family above all else. Michael specifically asked that the last things to honor his life be joyful, happy and outdoors. Picnics & Parties. Which is why the memorial services in all 3 states will be held outside in some of his favorite places from various parts of his life.
