Manuel Lourenco

Manuel Lourenco (Manny) was born November 9, 1926, in New Bedford, Massachusetts and died April 30, 2017 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Juanita Lourenco and his children: Judith Nakamura, Cathryn Campbell, Albuquerque; Dawn Nakamura-Kessler, Colorado; Steven and Marlene Nakamura, Corrales; and Denise Jacobs, Hawaii. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Rachel, Nicole, and Stevie Ray Nakamura, Corrales; David Kessler, Rhode Island; and Sam Bevans, Hawaii. Manny was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Maria Lourenco, his son Tommy Lourenco, his son-in law Randy Kessler, and his granddaughter Tiffany Bevans. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Manny served aboard the U.S.S. Missouri and witnessed The Peace Treaty with Japan being signed on September 2, 1945. A decorated veteran he served proudly with the United States Marines and Navy. He had a long career as an electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He and his family moved from New York to Rio Rancho, New Mexico in 1972. He made many friends through his involvement with Life Church in Rio Rancho, his love of travel, and fishing. A memorial service will be held Thursday May 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Life Church in Rio Rancho, 4401 Northern Blvd NE.
