Socorro Chavez

Socorro Chavez, 79, our precious mother, peacefully passed away on December 3, 2016 in Estancia, New Mexico. She was born to the late Elfigo and Arsania (Lopez) Sedillo on May 27, 1937 in Manzano, NM. On April 26, 1958 Socorro married her soul mate Richardo Chavez. She was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Torreon, NM as well as the Torreon Women’s Auxiliary Alter and Rosary Society. Socorro had an impact on the community she helped and touched many lives. She was a dear mother, sister, sister in law, grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly. Socorro is also preceded in death by her husband, Richardo Chavez and sister, Flora Colunga. She is survived by her sons, Richard Anthony Chavez and Randy Joseph Chavez (Veronica); daughters, Denise Chavez-Parish, Nichole (Brian) Charlson and Julie Ann Chavez (fiancé Wade Abell) and sisters, Irene Gutierrez, Laurie Hermosillo, JoAnn Abeyta and Elizabeth Buruato. Socorro was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday December 9, 2016 with the Rosary being recited at 10:00 A.M. and the Celebration of Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Torreon, NM. Burial will be at Torreon Cemetery in Torreon, NM.
