Kayser, Virginia Joyce “Goldie” Goldie Kayser, 85, a resident of Mountainair, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016. Goldie was born on May 19, 1931 in Slidell, L.A. to the late Oscar and Ida Anise Grice. Goldie left home at the age of 14 to tour the South and West as “Goldie West” with a country music band, “Ray Kimo and the Radio Ranch Boys”. She was a beautiful singer and talented musician. While touring New Mexico, she met and married her first husband, John “Wade” Steele in 1950. From that marriage, they had two daughters, Donna and Rose. Besides making music, she was a decorated artist that won many awards for her art work. Goldie was also an avid golfer. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Grice and husband, James; sister, Doris Medders; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Cody, Jamie, Shannon, Jimmy “Beau”, and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Cody Jr., Cassaundra, Cheyenne, Joelle, Autumn, Kennedy, Landry, Bellamy, DJ, Colby, James, Lilly, Kody, and Kash; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wade Steele; her daughter, Rose; her second husband, Harding Kayser; sister, Mary; brothers, James and Hubert.
