William "Bill" Franklin Harelson

January 7, 1934 — June 3, 2016

William Franklin Harelson was born January 7, 1934 in Vaughn New Mexico the 8th child of Bonita and Robert Harelson. He joined with his Mother, Father, 5 Sisters and 2 brothers in their heavenly home the morning of June 3rd, 2016. Bill grew up in California, Colorado and New Mexico. He moved to Los Alamos in 1945 and moved to Corona in 1996. He served in the Army 1955-1957, stationed in Colorado Springs, he served in Colorado, California, Washington, and in Germany. In 1952 he began employment for Mountain Bell Telephone, and returned to his position there when his military term ended. He retired from Mountain Bell in 1982. On May 9,1953 he married Johnnie Faye King in Los Alamos. They have four daughters, Patsy, Pam, Peggy and Penny, and one son, Donald. Bill also has 4 grandchildren, Glendon Wheelock and wife Kimberly of Johnstown Colorado, Adam Thurman and Jackie Thurman of Mineola Texas, and Jonathan Harelson of Hagerman New Mexico. Two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Colton of Johnstown Colorado, One great-granddaughter, Anabella Cain-Harelson of Roswell New Mexico. Son In-laws Glen Thurman of Mineola Texas and Ron Martin of San Antonio Texas. He also has several nieces and nephews who will miss him. Bill belonged to the Telephone Pioneers serving as President for two years. During that time, he did work with the children at the New Mexico State School for the Deaf. Many will remember Bill by his love of wood working, story telling guitar picking, organ playing, and his 20 years serving the American Legion.
