Manuel L Chavez

Manuel L. Chavez, 87, passed away on March 10, 2016 in Edgewood, New Mexico. He entered this world on July 6, 1928 in Galisteo, NM to the late Manuel and Tiodorita (Larranaga) Chavez. On January 18, 1951 he married the love of his life Mary Elena Parraz in Vaughn, NM. Manuel retired from the New Mexico State Highway Department and was also a rancher. He is a devout Catholic and a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. Manuel is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary P. Chavez; daughter in law, Beth Chavez; grandson, Greg Alexander; brothers, Cayetano Chavez, Ambrosio Chavez, Anastacio Chavez, Abel Chavez, Antonio Chavez and Alfredo Chavez and sisters, Terri Trujillo, Susie Chavez, Brijida Chavez and Rita Chavez. He is survived by his son, Manuel D. Chavez of Moriarty, NM; daughter and son in law, Elena and Charles Archibeque of Dumas, TX; sisters, Florinda Encinias and Celina Encinias. Manuel was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. A Rosary is to be recited on Thursday March 17, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. The Celebration of Mass will be Friday March 18, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. Pallbearers are Michael Chavez, Manuel Chavez, Markes Chavez, Nick Chavez, Charles Archibeque, Adan Encinias, Rafael Chavez, Robert Parraz and Joe M. Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers are Milton Boutte, Frank Encinias, Adam Encinias, Ruben Trujillo, Alfred, Percy, Lorenzo and Victor Larranaga, Matt and Kim Gayner, Sean and Nicole Gibbons, John and Andrea Mielcarek, Luis and Carla Rodriguez, Bridget Chavez, Deanna Sandy, Amanda Lopez, Andrea Chavez, Nancy Apodaca and all Manuel’s great grandchildren. Arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary.
