EDDIE (ELOY) CASTILLO
Age 77, a resident of Albuquerque, went to heaven on Monday, January 11, 2016. Eddie served his country for four years in the United States Marine Corps where he played basketball and had a one year deployment in the Philippines. After leaving the Marine Corps Eddie attended the State Police Academy and was stationed in Gallup where he served as an Internal Affairs Officer. Eddie also attended the rigorous FBI training academy in Quantico Virginia to work with the Swat Team as a Sniper. He was transferred to Santa Fe and was part of the group of State Police Officers and Federal Agents who were sent to gain control of the prisoners during the State Penitentiary Riot in 1981. He retired as Captain after he was part of the security team for Governor Tony Anaya. Eddie was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He enjoyed coaching youth sports and was a well-known umpire who cared about the children in his local community. Eddie is preceded in death by his wife Patricia A. Castillo, his parents Luis and Christina Castillo, brothers Phillip, Benny, Harry, and Teofilo Castillo, and sister Gloria Boissoneau. Eddie is survived by his children, Robert Castillo and wife Diane and their children Andrew and Matthew, Christina Yepez and husband Raymond and their children Raymond, Valerie and husband Jason Quintana, David Castillo and girlfriend Elizabeth Hinton, Eddie Castillo and wife Nali and their children Devon and Nathan. He also had a great-grandson Josiah. A Rosary will be held at St Jude Thaddeus, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114 on 1/15/16 at 230pm followed by a church service. Burial services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, 1/18/16 at 1030.
