Thomas Leo Browne of McIntosh passed away December 9, 2015 after years of suffering from a debilitating illness. He was born January 10, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas J. & Rita (Turissini) Browne. His father Thomas was a newspaperman, and his family moved as newspapers closed or consolidated in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Consequently, Tom spent his childhood in Brooklyn, Astoria, Pennsylvania, Queens, and New Jersey. He attended Irvington High School in New Jersey before heading west to live in Colorado and New Mexico, where he loved the mountains and the wide open country. Tom lived for many years in Santa Fe, working as a hauler and handy man, before he moved to McIntosh and settled in with his trucks, tools and books.
Tom was a great reader and very knowledgeable in history, from ancient to modern. He could tell you details of military history like only few people can. He was one-of-a-kind, a complex and self-sufficient man, ready for anything, and a good and generous friend.
Tom is survived by a son, Thomas, of Santa Fe, brothers Charles of Johnson City, New York and Andrew of Quincy, Massachusetts, two nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
