Mary Elizabeth Huston
Born: September 5, 1921
Died: November 16, 2015
Mary Huston, age 94 years, was born to Fred and Mabel Fry on a ranch outside of Taiban, New Mexico.
During WW II, Mary taught in a one-room school in Blanco, New Mexico. She continued to teach – in Sunday School, tutoring home-bound students, delivering presentations throughout her life.
She married Don Huston, her husband of 51 years, July 2, 1944. Don’s work for Brown Construction Company for 45 years allowed them to live in towns throughout New Mexico, sharing their love for the state with their three children, Dorothy Miller married to Larry Miller of Edgewood, NM; Lucinda Williams married to David Williams of Cambridge, MA; and the late Stanley Huston formerly married to Cheryl Bonino of Edgewood, NM.
In 1955, Mary was baptized and she was a consistent member of church in every community in which she and Don lived. Her faith in the saving power of Jesus Christ gave her a visible peace as she moved from this life into her eternal home.
Mary loved and enjoyed each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren:
Amy and Buddy Oaks, Bristyn and Xander;
Shiloh and Jesse Pennington, Paige and Baylor;
Derek Miller, Skyler;
Chandler and Becca Huston, Bryce and Grayson.
Jeanne and Todd Mellish, Jackson, Ben and Evelyn
Laura and Matt Gordon, Sam, Lily and Hannah
Mary enjoyed creating in a variety of art forms. She encouraged participation in the Republican Party, worked for a variety of candidates and organized the floats for the Moriarty parades. Planning, decorating and sharing a home that Don built of rammed earth brought her much joy. She was always drawn to kids and animals and plants and they all thrived under her care.
