About a year later Raymond married Beatrice Gladwell who never accepted the girls as daughters because of this, their Uncle Fred Lackey came for them and took them to their grandmother's to live. Their grandmother, Ethel was a strict disciplinarian. The girls lived there until Ruby married Ralph Carter when she was seventeen. Ruth remained until she graduated from high school and moved to Albuquerque and got a job working for the telephone company. She married Thomas (Tommy) Husband on 10th of September and bore him four children named above. After the children left home she got a job with Mervyns, a department store which she enjoyed. Tommy changed jobs several times which always required a move to a different location. They lived in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and California, then back to Arizona after Tommy retired. They divorced soon after and Ruth moved back to new Mexico where she married her childhood sweetheart, Jackie Davidson and became a loving stepmom to his adult children Janet, Carol and Jack Allen. Ruth lived with Jackie and enjoyed a wonderful married life with Jackie for almost 25 years. Because of health reasons she moved in with her daughter Beverly who became her caregiver. Several times while she was married to Jackie, she and her daughter Beverly, her half-sister Wanda would spend a girls-only weekend at a hotel hanging out and gambling. During the last 5 months of Ruth’s life, she developed a close relationship with her granddaughter Patrice Ruth who was also her care-giver until her passing. Although Patrice moved to New Mexico from California to become her Grandmother’s full time Care-giver, her husband Ron was very supportive over the 5 months she cared for her Grandmother. Ruth passed away comfortably and quietly Thursday at 6:59 A.M.
