David Rhodes Dahlstrand, 54, peacefully passed away after an unexpected illness in Albuquerque, NM on May 23, 2015. His two sisters and brother were blessed to be at his side in those last moments. He was a uniquely gifted and flawed person, as we all are, but that collection of gifts and flaws made him who he was, a man loved and admired by so many, and especially by his siblings. Dave, as his friends knew him, was born on August 18, 1960 in Muskegon, MI to the late Russell and Nancy (Rhodes) Dahlstrand. Throughout his life his interests ranged widely; but among them, aviation and art became his vocation – technical illustration, and the Old West became his avocation – he was involved with several gun fight shows and looked at home with cowboy hat on his head, sheriff’s badge on his chest, and a single action Colt on his thigh. Dave is preceded in death by his Wife, Kathy Courreges and survived by his siblings, John Dahlstrand of Tucson, AZ; Karen Falkanger and husband, Jim, of Bloomington, MN, and Linda Siefken and husband, Bill, of Glendale, AZ; Dogs, Heidi and Ringo; Cat, Miss Priss; and numerous nieces and nephews. David leaves a gaping hole in our lives that will slowly heal in the warmth coming from the place he holds in our hearts. The memorial celebration of his life will be July 11 at 4PM in the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, on Route 66, Moriarty, east of Albuquerque. As part of the celebration his family asks that anyone attending, who has Old West/Victorian style costume or even just a cowboy hat, please wear it.
