William Leroy Rogers Sr.

William Leroy Rogers Sr. (Bill). 99, of Moriarty, NM passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. Bill was born October 9, 1915 in Lawton, Oklahoma to John Bellah and Dora (Padgett) Rogers. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, five sisters, Minnie, Mildred, Louise, Jessie, Marguerite, and one brother, Logan, wife Mary Ella (Hoffman) Rogers, son, John Rogers Sr., daughter-in-law, Carol Rogers (wife of Bill Rogers Jr.). Bill is survived by sons, William L. Rogers Jr. (Billy) of Tuttle, OK; Jesse Rogers and wife Sally of Edgewood, NM; daughter Georgia Guenther and husband Louis of Moriarty, NM; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, family and friends. Bill was a World War II Veteran who served in the United States Army Air Corp in Roswell, NM. Bill was a permanent fixture in the Estancia Valley, farming land in Mountainair, Willard, and finally settling on his farm in Moriarty, NM in 1957. He continued farming this land until he was 92 and fed livestock until he was 97. Bill succumbed to pulmonary fibrosis, but was otherwise the picture of health. A viewing will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Moriarty, NM. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Moriarty Church of the Nazarene, Pastor Arnie Leidy officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain Valley Cemetery in Barton, NM. Pallbearers are L.T. Guenther III, Larry Guenther, Richard Yarbrough, Trent London, Ellan Anderson and Jonathan Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers are Will Rogers, Brian VanDemark, Sam Pantley, Bob Hensley, Frank Ortiz and Harold Dinkel.
