Ernestene Helms

Ernestene Helms, 87, a long time resedent of Mountainair, NM passed away Friday May 8, 2015 at her home in Mountainair, NM. Ernestene was born to Milt and Ruby (Hock) Howard on November 11, 1927 in Brownfield, TX. She met and married the love of her life, J. P. Helms on Sept. 6, 1951 in Clovis, NM, J.P. preceded her in death in 2002. Ernestene will be remembered as a rancher’s wife, a rancher, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and true friend. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loves her. Ernestene was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son Joe Helms; sister Dixie Skipworth; and Brother James Howard. She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Kingston and her husband Red of Mountainair, NM; son, Preston Helms of Seattle, WA; Brother Jake Howard and his wife Maurene, of Elida, NM; sister, Elois Creighton also of Elida, NM; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A viewing will be held Wednesday May 13, 2015—9:00 am to 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Mountainair. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 13, 2015—10:00 am also at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Mountainair Cemetery in Mountainair, NM. Pallbearers will be Jack Greene, Ben Creighton, Donald Creighton, Mitch McKinley, Johnny Mathews and Rick Kayser. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her neighbors.
