With a fourth grade education he managed to work construction then opened his first restaurant in NY. Soon after wanting a change of life for his family they packed up and were on their way to California in 1962 Mario and Kay broke down in Albuquerque, before long they opened Mario’s Lucky’s Pizza on Central. They then opened Jelly Stone park Camp Ground and Sandia Frontier Town in Cedar Crest where the raised 7 children, then retired in the early 90’s. They attended Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque for several years. That is where Mario learned his faith and Gods word. Mario was real; when he was happy you knew it which was most of the time; if he was sad you knew it, if he was angry the Sicilian came out. He was a very humble man and would give you the very best of what he had and help in any way that he could. God gave him a love for cooking. Mario never cooked just enough it was always more so he could feed the neighbors. Any time you walked into his house there was always a pot of Spaghetti sauce up (just like his mother.) He battled cancer for 15 years but used his time in and out of the hospitals to minister to others, that was his mission field. Mario loved life, never missed an opportunity to share his faith with whoever crossed is path. He also enjoyed a great cup of coffee at McDonald’s most mornings. He was so proud of his children and grand children who blessed him in so many ways. The legacy he has left behind is that… all of his children and grand children know Christ and can continue sharing their faith with others just as he did.
